Last night at Sotheby’s in New York City, The Macallan and Lalique set an astounding world record for most expensive whisky ever sold with the auction and sale of The Macallan 64 Years Old in Lalique: Cire Perdue. After a lively auction that kept hearts racing, the final bid was called and the decanter featuring the oldest and rarest Macallan ever bottled sold for $460,000, with 100 percent of the proceeds going to benefitcharity:water.

This final sale coupled with the funds raised from the global fundraising tour has resulted in approximately $605,000 to benefit charity:water, which will change the lives of 30,250 people.
